WonderFox DVD Video Converter is intended to transcode media to other formats. In this regard, the tool cannot only convert between video formats but also extract audio from video and rip DVD movies. Luckily, it supports some basic editing functions as well. In terms of interface layout, the program has nothing new to show. In fact, it looks almost exactly to other converters, which, on the other hand, becomes an advantage if you already have some experience with software of this kind. Even if this is your first time, you should not worry because the program gives you instructions in tutorial fashion.
Just most modern converters, this program supports processing batches of files. It can import practically all the popular formats. Likewise, it allows loading DVD discs, folders, and ISO files. Luckily, it works fine with scratched and content-protected discs. Not only that, you can also use it to download bulks of clips from media websites. Besides. it supports high-resolution video.
As mentioned before, the converter also allows some basic editing. For each video file imported, you can select one of the available audio and subtitle tracks. Moreover, you can add subtitles from external files. Likewise, you can merge all the files selected from the list. Various visual effects can also be applied, and some of them are quite attractive. The tool also lets you rotate the image to the desired angle. Unluckily, although it allows trimming video, it can only extract a single fragment from each clip.
The program supports a long array of output formats. It is good that choosing the right profile is not such a difficult decision as there are ready-made profiles which are compatible with various playback devices. It is a shame, though, that all the imported files have to be converted using the same output devices. Finally, it is fair to say that the tool can perform the conversion very fast, mostly when you can benefit from GPU acceleration.
All in all, WonderFox DVD Video Converter is simply another tool of its kind. Frankly speaking, there is nothing that would make it better (or worse) than the rest. The product is shareware, so you can give it a try at no cost, but there is the limitation that only the first five minutes of each file will be processed.
